I never had a long spring break vacation in college when most people go to the beach. I decided now that I am done with college and teaching I was going to live up my spring break! So my friends Meagan, Katie, Charlotte and I found super cheap tickets to Hawaii and booked our trip. We have been counting down since October and now it has already come and gone.
But lets recap all the fun adventures:
DAY 1
Saturday March 30
We got to Hawaii late Friday night and went to the house we were staying at and went straight to sleep.
Saturday morning we got up and drove to Aloha Stadium where the football team plays and went to the swapmeet. Basically what it is, is a large outdoor flea market that vendors set up all the way around the outside of the stadium. I think they said total it is 1 mile around. When we were about 3/4 of the way around it started raining and raining and raining! We tried hiding under a tent that helped keep us somewhat dry but before we knew it we were trying to walk back to the car and up to our knees in rain water! Luckily we were able to get out of there before the parking lot flooded too.
After a very long time and still not going to the beach yet, my friends finally let me go home and put on my swimsuit and go to Kailua beach! It was passed the hottest part of the day but still nice to be in the clear water. We took some surf boards with us and failed miserably and that but it was so much fun.
Sunday March 31
Charlotte and I wanted to start our Easter morning out right so we were up early and found a way to walk to the beach. It was so nice and peaceful with just a couple other people walking along the beach as well. One guy was carrying around a bag of flowers and handing them out to all the ladies! It was fantastic. Then I got to call my family who was all gathered together celebrating Easter. One of my favorite things is being with my family and since that is hard to do a lot of the time, talking on the phone is the next best thing. Last Easter my family was visiting me out in Utah and we ate Easter dinner at Pizzas Hut!
We went to church and then drove up to North Shore to visit BYU Hawaii and the temple. We ate a picnic lunch, walked around the grounds, and took awkward family photos. (Don't listen to your friends when they want to do a jumping picture in a skirt!)
This ranch was absolutely beautiful!
Hawaii temple!
One of my favorite pictures of the week!
(right before they dropped me)
This was one of the most modest with my skirt not flying up..whoops
These girls are great and I am glad I was able to take this trip with them!
To end our day we went to Sunset beach to watch the surfers and see the big waves. Man were they crashing hard. Charlotte wanted to go in so we played a game when a wave reached our feet we took a step closer to the water. The first to get washed away or run away lost....I won!
